Stefan van Thiel Dutch Champion

Stefan van Thiel from Zeeland has conquered the Dutch title Olympic Distance in Holten. Sander Berk finished second, and Bas Diederen third.

After the swimming part, Van Thiel laid twenty seconds behind a leading group. During the cycling he caught up with them, and during the running part he took a distance. Van Thiel stated that his legs weren’t even as good as they could be.

Sander Berk, who finished only four seconds after Van Thiel, couldn’t catch up with him. “Only three weeks ago I have competed in the NK Long Distance contest. Today I could not really get going.” Ruling champion Bas Diederen finished third.

Other favorites, such as Tim Dullaart, Peter de Vries and Edo van der Meer have withdrawn from the competition after the cycling part.
