Elite Men and Women to Start Later During 35th Holten Triathlon
The race schedule of the thirty-fifth Holten Triathlon has some modifications compared to previous editions. To give both the elite men and women the attention and allure that matches their status, the start for both categories has been moved respectively to 14:40 and 16:30.
In past editions of the Holten Triathlon, the elite men and women, as well as the junior men and women, formed the start of the race day. Consequently, the national and international athletes finished in a triathlon arena where public interest was lacking. They did not receive the reception that (recreational) athletes did later in the day.
The organization of the Holten Triathlon has therefore decided to reschedule the start of the groups with (inter)national athletes to later in the day. On Saturday, June 29, the elite men start at 14:40 in the waters of the Domelaar, followed by the start of the junior women (15:10), junior men (15:40), and elite women (16:20).
This change naturally has consequences for the other categories scheduled for June 29, where sporting highlights will follow each other in quick succession. The day kickstarts at 10:15 with the Koers Oost Business Triathlon. Following this, the Olympic Distance for recreational athletes and the first division women and men are scheduled before the elite men start. The finale of the Saturday is, as always, the eighth triathlon for recreational athletes, where the Holten Championship is among the competitions. This starts at 16:50 in the Twenhaarsveld pool.
The course of the Holten Triathlon also features a change for the thirty-fifth edition. Participants in the eighth triathlon must conquer the challenging Motieweg not once, but twice this year. On the other hand, they will not have to go over the Diepe Hel this year.
