He who owns the youth, owns the future. It is a saying that Triathlon Holten has been embracing for years. And this year, Friday evening is youth evening. Budding triathletes are getting the chance to experience the sport for the first time in the triathlon village. Initially through the Run-Bike-Run and for several years now, with a genuine triathlon for the youth.
This year as well, the athletes of the future can participate in the Triathlon Holten on Friday evening. A ‘Supersprint Youth Triathlon’ is scheduled for children aged 8 to 11 years old, where they will finish in the center of Holten after swimming 100 meters, cycling 5 kilometers, and running 1.25 kilometers.
For children aged 12 and over, a ‘Sprint Youth Triathlon’ is scheduled on Friday evening. This distance consists of swimming 250 meters, cycling 10 kilometers, and running 2.5 kilometers. New this year is the expansion of the Sprint Youth Triathlon with age categories for 16, 17, 18, and 19 years.
After the youth triathlons, it is turn for the professional triathletes. Sports-wise, the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup men and the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup women conclude Friday evening. The men start Friday at 7:30 PM, the women’s race begins at 8:15 PM.
The new setup of the Friday evening also impacts the Vivera Run. The running race through the center of Holten has been held on Friday evening during the last four editions, but this year it will start on Saturday morning. Both the 5 and 10 kilometers start at 10:15 AM in the triathlon arena on the Kalfstermansweide.
During the opening party, there is a celebration with rapper/singer Paul Sinha, the popular band Alive, and DJ Boontje.
