Students Kick Off Triathlon Holten
Henrik Rensen and Britt van den Hoven Fastest Athletes 1/16 Rabo Kids Triathlon
Henrik Rensen from Holten and Britt van den Hoven from Assen both secured a podium position. Rensen finished with a time of 00:35:14. The girl from Assen followed not long after with a time of 00:35:33. Fastest primary school student from Holten is Lasse Hopster. He had a clear lead of 30 seconds over Stef Eggink from Zwolle, who came in second. Among the girls, Milou Bunt and Merel Keijzer secured a podium place.
Kids Triathlon
The third edition of the Kids Triathlon will go down in history as very warm. This was also evident on the faces of the young participants. After swimming 100 meters, cycling 2750 meters, the tough youngsters still had 1250 heavy meters of running ahead. The youth from the first and second grade of secondary education faced double the distance. Someone who had no trouble with the heat was Ziyad Al Mahmood. With a big smile, he ran into the finish arena and stole the show with the audience. It’s no wonder he managed to withstand the tropical temperatures. The 12-year-old triathlete usually lives in Bahrain but visits family in Zeeland every summer with his Dutch mother, brother, and sisters. “This is the first time I’m participating in Holten,” says Ziyad afterward. “I found it fantastic. My brother is participating tomorrow in the Junior Cup. In Bahrain, I participate in a triathlon more often. Our bikes just come on the plane every year. I swim every morning. I found the running tough, but the crowd was amazing.”
