Pekkeriet Holten Champion for the First Time

Ymke Ophof wins local championship among women

Stefan Pekkeriet may call himself the fastest Holtenaar for a year in the eighth. The triathlete recorded a time of 00:40:03 in that section. That proved sufficient for the win in the battle for the Holten Championship.

Due to the heat, the running segment in the eighth triathlon was adjusted. Instead of two laps, participants had to complete only one lap through the center of Holten. They also had the option to head straight to the finish line after the bike/run transition. The running segment did not count towards the final result due to this change.

,”Therefore, I wasn’t very eager initially,” admitted Pekkeriet. “It is no longer a triathlon. The tension is gone. And running is my strongest part. In the end, swimming went reasonably well. I knew I had to give my all on the bike afterward.”

With that tactic, Pekkeriet managed to stay ahead of competitors Niels van Coeverden and Koen Onderwater, who finished second and third respectively in the battle for the Holten championship. Before a well-filled grandstand with neighbors, the Beuseberger, who had previously finished second and third, was able to receive the corresponding trophy.
,”This was the goal. I had to become Holten champion once. It feels good when it succeeds.”

Ymke Ophof crowned herself Holten champion among women. She completed the swimming and cycling segment in a time of 00:45:58, staying ahead of Marleen Bode and Marit Hanewinkel.
