Wim van den Broek, one of the most well-known speakers and an icon in the triathlon sport, is saying goodbye to his role as a speaker this year. Van den Broek will celebrate this farewell at the Triathlon Holten, where since 1991 he has spoken to athletes and the audience more than 25 times and where he will do so one more time during the weekend of July 1 and 2.
The organization of Triathlon Holten is thanking and honoring Wim, among other things, with his own ‘Wim van den Broek start series’ on Saturday. Friends, relatives, and acquaintances from the sports world can start together to celebrate Wim’s impressive career as a speaker and his farewell. Registration for this series has been open since February 2.
The initiative for the special start series has been greeted with tremendous enthusiasm in the triathlon world. Many established names from the past and present have already signed up and will participate on July 2. This series seems to be growing into a fantastic tribute to Wim van den Broek as well as a large reunion race. An overview of the athletes who have already registered can be found on the entry lists on the Triathlon Holten website.
Because the interest is even too large for one series, the organization has decided to open an extra Wim van den Broek start series. Signing up for this second series is possible by invitation only. If, as a triathlete, you miss out on these series but still wish to race in Holten on July 2, then register for the Olympic Distance: spots are currently still available.
