Despite event cancellation, fully in the spotlight
The Triathlon Holten will not take place this year. Due to the coronavirus and the associated measures and uncertainties, the Stichting Triathlon Holten decided to cancel the 36th edition. However, this does not mean that the triathlon weekend will go unnoticed this year.
During the weekend when the Triathlon Holten was originally scheduled – Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20 – extensive attention will be given to the sporting event. RTV Oost will feature the Triathlon Holten in the news broadcast on Saturday at 20:00. The Triathlon Holten’s own social media channels will also focus on the triathlon spirit this coming weekend. Various individuals will share their experiences and views on the race in the Salland village on the Facebook and Instagram pages of the Triathlon Holten this and next week. Among others, Rachel Klamer and Richard Murray (international triathletes), Arco Hofland (mayor of the Rijssen-Holten municipality) and Martin Pieters (chairman of the Stichting Triathlon Holten) will speak.
Additionally, the board of the Stichting Triathlon Holten wants to thank the more than 900 volunteers for being ready to ensure the event ran smoothly again this year. All volunteers of the Triathlon Holten have therefore received a voucher that allows them to collect four tompouces on Thursday, June 18, Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20 at Echte Bakker Nijkamp on Dorpsstraat 16 in Holten.
