In 2026, Triathlon Holten celebrates its 40e edition – a unique milestone in European triathlon.
What began as a local initiative in 1985 has grown into a world-class event that combines athletic excellence, community involvement, and international reach. With the awarding of the Europe Triathlon Premium Cup and Junior Cup, Holten in 2026 once again offers an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, and sponsors.

For four decades, Triathlon Holten has been more than a competition. It is a place where future champions take their first international steps, where top athletes compete at the highest level, and where thousands of fans come together to share in the excitement. Each year, Holten welcomes participants and spectators from all over Europe and beyond. This strengthens the reputation as one of the most iconic races in the sport and shows why Rijssen-Holten is THE outdoor sports municipality of the Netherlands.
Challenging course for amateurs and top athletes
Each year, top athletes from all over the world and amateurs from the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium travel to the village of Salland to take on the challenging course. The organization of Triathlon Holten is proud that Holten will once again be the battleground of an international triathlon for elite athletes in 2026. For the 19th consecutive time, the European Triathlon Union has awarded a prestigious Europe Triathlon Premium Cup race to Holten.
Sportsmanship and festivities go hand in hand in Holten
For recreational participants and the public, both a sporting and festive program are planned for Friday and Saturday, just like in previous editions. On Friday evening, runners can check in at the start for the 5 or 10-kilometer running race. In addition, the youth triathlon and the corporate triathlon are back on the program that evening. Saturday is reserved for elite athletes and amateurs who can prepare to swim, bike, and run the 1/8 e and standard distance. Both days are festively concluded with the spectacular opening party on Friday, July 3rd, and the afterparty on Saturday, July 4th.

Triathlon Holten is an event that attracts around 2,500 participants, over 15,000 visitors, and the involvement of more than 1,050 volunteers.
