Upon arrival at the swimming pool, a healthy tension is visible on the faces of the young participants. A guide explains briefly and clearly what is expected, after which the young participants distribute themselves over the lanes. The swim caps are distributed among them, a short warm-up swim, and they are off! The distance for the super sprint triathlon is 1/32nd and for the sprint triathlon 1/16th of a triathlon. The 1/32nd triathletes swim 4 lanes, cycle 5 kilometers, and run 1.2 kilometers. At the 1/16th triathlon, the distance is double. After a nice race on the bike, it’s time to run hard. Under loud cheers from many supporters, the youth run towards the finish line. There is much enthusiasm among the youth after the finish. After some healthy pre-race tension and a few stomach cramps during the race, they are happy to have completed the race. All of them are so elated that they are sure to participate again next year!
